The Saga of the 28 nurses in New York
My friend Ellen Sana led me to this story. She gave a speech at the UN General Assembly and on the side talked with the lawyer of 28 nurses being "abused" by their recruitment agency -- supposedly with the blessing of a top government official. This was confirmed by an unnamed source in the POEA. I also talked with the nurses' Philippine lawyer and as a result, wrote a story published in Philippine News last Sept. 13, 2006 entitled
